Limenaria along with the suburb of Kalivia (or St. Georgios) is one of the most developed touristic destinations in Thassos.
The area was rapidly developed in the touristic perspective at the beginning of the 20th century, when a German company called “Spiedel” started mining minerals and exporting it to all around the world.The company’s headquarters known as ‘Palace’ is an example of fine architecture in the region as well as a popular tourist attraction with breathtaking panoramic views.Some other spots of interest are the cave under the palace and the beach where the old mine where located. Furthermore there is a folklore museum and the Papageorgiou museum which is run privately.
